Monitored anesthesia or IV Sedation is used during colonoscopies in order to make one feel relaxed and affects consciousness. It is often provided through local and regional anesthesia.

Local Anesthesia numbs a small area of the body that procedure targets and is used usually for mole, stitches, and broken bones

Regional Anesthesia numbs large area in body through injection or catheter usually used for childbirth, spinal blocks, and more.
